We all love a good fruit smoothie, right? Fruit smoothies are cheap, convenient and oh so easy to make! Plus, when made with the right ingredients, they can be a very healthy meal, snack or post-workout fuel. When using the correct ingredients, smoothies can be very nutrient dense and packed full of fiber, vitamins, and more. Making your own smoothies daily can mean raising your energy levels, meeting your nutritional needs, lowering your blood sugar levels, and adding to your good health. That is not always the case though, as you need to make sure to only enjoy smoothies that are full of healthy ingredients. 

So yes, when done correctly, daily smoothies are totally fine. Like with anything else though, it is important to do it the right way. Putting the right ingredients into your daily smoothie will make all the difference in your overall health.

Many things can happen if you choose to consume smoothies every day, some good and some bad. The following are some of the things that can be benefits of enjoying smoothies every day:

You’ll Get a Great Nutrient Boost as Part of a Balanced Diet

Let’s face it, it’s easy to miss out on all of the essential nutrients that we need in our diet. When you enjoy smoothies packed full of whole foods, leafy green vegetables and fresh fruit you can bet that you will be consuming more nutrients, which of course comes with health benefits. 

You Can Add Tasty Sources of Protein to Boost Your Daily Diet

While you might not necessarily think of a smoothie being a good protein source, you might be surprised to learn that they really are great way to add a nice boost of protein into your daily levels. As a matter of fact, protein smoothies are a popular way for some to increase their daily protein intake. Here are some of my favorite ways to boost my daily intake of protein in a shake:

  • Nut butters. Nut butters, such as peanut butter and almond butter, are a great way to add some extra protein and healthy fats to your smoothie!
  • Protein Powder. A scoop or two of protein powder is a super easy addition to your smoothie that will give it a good boost of protein. 
  • Plain Greek Yogurt. Many healthy smoothies have a base of Greek yogurt as it is a good smoothing ingredient and greek yogurt over regular yogurt is a much better choice because of its protein content. 

You Can Increase Your Leafy Greens and Vegetable Intake

Who among us couldn’t use some extra leafy greens in our lives? I know I sure can! When you make yourself some delicious healthy green smoothies, you can be sure to get a huge boost of vitamins and a great increase in your fiber intake. 

You Can Boost Your Immune System

When upping your servings of fruits and vegetables, you will often find yourself with stronger immunity. Enjoying these smoothies regularly is an excellent way of boosting your vitamin content and your immune function as well. 

​You Can Boost Your Digestive System Health

When you begin consuming a variety of fruits and vegetables, you’ll increase your fiber intake which leads to better digestive health. 

​It Can Possibly Benefit Your Weight Loss Goals

As long as you are watching what you are putting into your smoothie, they may possibly help you in your weight loss goals. Smoothies can make great meal replacements, especially if you keep the calorie and/or carb count low in them (depending on your dietary goals). 

You Can Boost Your Energy Levels

If you are looking to boost your energy levels, a smoothie filled with vitamin and nutrient-dense foods is a great way to do just that. Some typical smoothie ingredients such as yogurt, nuts, bananas, avocado, berries and matcha powder are all natural ingredients that can boost your energy levels.

Now you do have to be careful if you are enjoying smoothies every day. It isn’t all pros. Just be sure that you are prepared for the potential negative side effects as well.

You May Be Consuming High Added  Sugars and Carbs

​Once you start drinking smoothies every day, you may find that you are consuming added sugars and high carbs. This is especially true if you are choosing store bought smoothies. These types of smoothies are often loaded with added sugars and unhealthy ingredients. 

You May Feel Bloated

Yes, these smoothies can help to improve your digestion, but they also may make you feel bloated and experience some gas symptoms. This is especially true if your body is not used to consuming that much fiber. If you suffer from those symptoms, you don’t need to give up on smoothies, you may just need to take it a bit slower. 

​Meal Replacement Smoothies May Leave You Feeling Hungry

If you are used to eating large portions at mealtime, you may find that swapping out that large meal for a smoothie is difficult to get used to. You also need ho be sure that your smoothie has enough protein, healthy fats, and fiber to keep you feeling satisfied.
